Move to Vaccinate Companions of 75-and-Older Hailed as 'Game-Changer' by Senior Advocate

  DANVERS, Mass. — Starting Thursday, residents 75-and-older who make appointments for COVID-19 vaccinations at one of the commonwealth's mass vaccination sites will be allowed to also make an appointment for a companion of any age to accompany them to the site and receive a vaccination of their own.   Gov. Charlie Baker made the announcement on Wednesday during a visit to the mass vaccination site at the DoubleTree Hotel. Big Y Donates To BMC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Big Y donated a portion of fundraiser proceeds to Berkshire Medical Center to support the Women's Imaging Center.   In order to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer, all Big Y Supermarkets donated proceeds from their October initiative Partners of Hope to 31 local breast cancer support groups throughout Massachusetts and Connecticut.    "Despite the pandemic, breast cancer affects thousands of women and more men each year," Big Y CEO, Charles D'Amour said. BRTA Human Services Transport Scheduling Shifting to Fitchburg

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Regional Transit Authority is concerned about maintaining a personalized customer experience in the wake of a state-mandated change in specialized services.   Starting in July, the Executive Office of Health and Human Services will enter a new contract with a brokerage area out of Fitchburg for Human Services Transportation. In 2019, the state department proposed the consolidation of six brokerage service areas that provide non-emergency "human service transportation" (HST) into three much larger service areas.   Under the proposal, BRTA is in Human Service Area 1 that covers all of Western Mass and from Warwick in the north diagonally
