Berkshire Organizations Partner to Launch New Website to Help Grant Seekers 08:12AM / Tuesday, November 08, 2022 | | PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Funding Focus (BFF), a new initiative established to support Berkshire County entities seeking federal and state funds for pandemic-related recovery and rebuilding, launched its website in November. Berkshire Regional Planning Commission and several partner agencies joined to form BFF in response to a need for a clearinghouse focused on the investment of COVID-19 recovery dollars into the region, to improve the well-being of community members. Rollerskiers Tackle Mount GreylockiBerkshires.com Sports, 10:08PM / Sunday, November 06, 2022 | | LANESBOROUGH, Mass. – Fin Bailey and Alexandra Lawson were the top finishers on Sunday at the Mount Greylock Hill Climb. The rollerski race was conducted at Mount Greylock Reservation under the auspices of the New England Nordic Ski Association. More than 100 athletes took on the challenge of racing to the top of the commonwealth’s highest peak. Bailey and Lawson were the first finishers in the long course division for men and women respectively. The long course ran for 8 miles from the visitor’s center to the top of the 3,500 foot mountain. State Fire Marshall: When You Change Your Clocks, Check Your Alarms02:24PM / Thursday, November 03, 2022 | | STOW, Mass. —With the end of daylight savings time coming on Nov. 6, Massachusetts fire officials issued a seasonal reminder to check your smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms and change the batteries when you change your clocks. "Working smoke and CO alarms are crucial home safety tools," said State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey. "As we 'fall back' this weekend, be sure you have the best protection by putting fresh alkaline batteries in alarms that use them and replacing alarms that are out of date." Great Barrington Selectboard, Fire District to Discuss HWW Merger Option08:23AM / Tuesday, November 01, 2022 | | GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The Selectboard will meet Monday, Nov. 21 at 6 p.m. with the Great Barrington Fire District to discuss a potential merger with the Housatonic Water Works (HWW) system. The town has been exploring possible solutions to HWW water quality issues, and one includes a merger of the Great Barrington Fire District with HWW system. HWW serves more than 800 customers in Housatonic Village and some neighboring areas. The Fire District serves about 1,700 properties in other parts of town.
