Housatonic Party in the Park

HOUSATONIC, Mass. — Live music, dance, face painting, food and more will fill Housatonic Village Common on Saturday, June 10, 11 -3 p.m., for "Party in the Park."   The free event is coordinated by the Housatonic Improvement Committee and all are welcome.   Food and snacks are provided by North Plain Farm, SoCo Creamery, Truck Dining Haul and Extra Special Teas. Authorities Investigating Ward's Nursery Fire in Great Barrington

The aftermath of the blaze behind Ward's Nursery. GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — An outdoor storage area at Ward's Nursery caught fire on Friday and damaged the exterior of an apartment house less than a dozen feet away on Silver Street.    The cause of the fire is unknown and the State Fire Marshal's office is working the investigation with local police and fire. Lee, Becket Overnight Paving, Bridge and Guardrail Repair

LEE, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced crews will be conducting overnight paving operations and bridge and guardrail repair work on I-90 eastbound and westbound in Montgomery, Russell, Becket and Lee.    The scheduled work will require some lane and shoulder closures, and is scheduled to take place as follows:   Montgomery/Russell Bridge repair work will be conducted nightly on I-90 eastbound and westbound at mile marker 36.0 from Tuesday, May 30, to Friday, June 2, during overnight hours from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. the following morning.  All work is anticipated to conclude by 5:00 a.m. on Friday, June

More Than 400 Compete in Steel Rail Races

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Williamstown's Alex White was the first runner across the finish line at Sunday's MountainOne Steel Rail Marathon on the Ashuwilticook Trail.   White maintained a 6 minute, 26 second per mile pace over the 26.2 mile course from Pittsfield to Adams and back.   He reached the finish line in 2:48.42.41 to finish 5-1/2 minutes ahead of the rest of the other 72 runners who finished the event's marathon division.   The fastest finisher in the marathon was Stephen Gulley of Billingham, the event's lone hand pedaler, who finished in 2:20:05.36.   The first female runner across the finish line was Assonet's Hailey Desmarais

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- Children 8 and up are invited to a Track and Field Youth Camp on Sunday, May 28, from 10 a.m. to noon on the Taconic High School track.   Join high school coaches and student-athletes from Pittsfield High and Taconic High to learn about mental health benefits of youth sports and the fundamentals of various track and field events.   The event is sponsored by Movember, which will be giving away sweatshirts to the first 50 registered participants.   Check in on the day of the event begins at 9:30 a.m. Preregistration is available here.

Fire Weather Watch in Berkshire County

The National Weather Service has declared a fire weather watch in effect from Tuesday, May 16 until Wednesday evening at 8 p.m.   Dry conditions and gusty winds may result in rapid fire spread of ignition occurs. Gusts could be up to 35 miles per hour.    The most critical conditions will be between late morning and sunset each day.   Temperatures on Tuesday will be in the upper 60s to 70s. Temperatures on Wednesday will be in the upper 40s to 50s.

CIAO Soccer Hall of Fame Inducts Class of '23
