CATA Hires New Staff Member

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Community Access to the Arts (CATA) announced the appointment of Courtney Maxwell as Program Associate.    CATA has expanded programs serving people with disabilities. BArT Charter Basketball Advances to League Semi-Final

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Sawyer Moser Monday scored 20 points to lead the Berkshire Arts and Technology Charter Public School basketball team to a 58-40 win over Hadley's Hartsbrook School in the River Valley Athletic League tournament.   The Wolf Pack used a 15-2 run in the first quarter to take control of the game, and the margin never dipped below 12 points the rest of the way.   Corey Lynch scored 15, and Matt Lizzo scored 11 for BArT in a game played at the Armory. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Berkshires' Academy for Advanced Musical Studies, Inc., (BAAMS) announced it has recently garnered support from several donors and foundations, all contributing to the expansion of its mission and increasing its ability to serve more young music students from Berkshire County and beyond.   A donation was received from Michelle Daunais and Rick Seto of Weymouth, double matched by Takeda Pharmaceutical, as well as funds raised through Network for Good, and funds were also donated in Memory of John T. "Jack" Gould, of North Adams, who passed away in December, 2022, made possible by the family of Jack Gould and the Flynn & Dagnoli Funeral

Simon's Rock Presents Tongji Philip Qian's Duration of Status

The US National Weather Service has released a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 7 pm Tuesday, Feb. 7,  morning to 1 am Wednesday morning.   Expect mixed precipitation with snow and sleet accumulation of up to one inch. Ice accumulation should be a light glaze.   Precipitation will start as a mix of snow and rain, transitioning into sleet mixing with freezing rain. Great Barrington Set Series of Budget Planning Meetings

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass.— At Town Hall, planning is under way for the 2024 fiscal year municipal budget and Annual Town Meeting.   In February and March the Selectboard and Finance Committee hold a series of FY24 budget planning sessions, and the public is invited to attend in-person at Town Hall, or via Zoom.   Online meeting links will be posted on the town calendar on the hearing dates.   Meetings are Feb. 28, March 1, March 7 and 8, with a final public hearing on March 22. Daytime Pavement Repair Operations on I-90 Westbound in Becket

BECKET, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) announced it will be conducting daytime hour pavement repair operations on I-90 westbound at mile marker 17.3 in Becket.     The work will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will require temporary lane closures.
