Festivities marking the nation's 243rd birthday will be held around the Berkshires. All events are on Thursday July 4, unless otherwise noted. Planning a trip to Boston? Boston The annual July 4 Esplanade Events are July 3 night practice (no fireworks) and Thursday night with fireworks following the Boston Pops, which begin at 8. CHP Rolling Out Vaccines for Young Children08:00AM / Saturday, July 02, 2022 | | GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Community Health Programs (CHP) is now offering COVID-19 pediatric vaccines for children between 6 months through age 4. These vaccines have been clinically tested and approved for use in young children to prevent serious illness and hospitalization from COVID-19. Full information about pediatric vaccines for children of all ages can be found on the CDC's website. The CHP Mobile Health Unit (MHU) provides free vaccines to all, regardless of whether they are a CHP patient. Construction Begins in Castle Hill Neighborhood In Great Barrington 12:10PM / Thursday, June 30, 2022 | | GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Beginning July 5, 2022 contractors for the Town of Great Barrington will be working in the Castle Hill neighborhood, conducting investigative drilling on various streets. Work will take place from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., for about 10 days. Contractors will be using a drilling rig to bore holes through the pavement and sub-base of the road, at various locations. This work is a preliminary step in planning for future replacement of much of the sewer and drainage infrastructure in this neighborhood. GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — The People's Pantry has launched its first fundraiser in more than 20 years of operating with a goal of raising $300,000. This money will allow it to feed the community for the rest of 2022. A drastic increase in need coupled with inflation has led the organization to this venture. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the pantry fed around 500 individuals a month and now it feeds more than 2,000. Expenses have also dramatically risen, with its operating budget increasing by 500 percent between 2018 and 2021.
