WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Applications are now being accepted for the Lola Greene Legacy Scholarship.

A one-time grant of $250 to $500 will be awarded to a graduating high school senior from Berkshire County who is planning to continue to study Latin and/or the Classics in college. The scholarship will be awarded based on scholastic achievement with emphasis on Latin study and related activities, future plans to continue Latin and Classics studies, and demonstrated leadership and good moral character.

Lola Greene taught at Mount Greylock Regional High School from 1984 through 2000. During this time she developed the school’s Latin program and Junior Classical League into one of

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Applications for the 2016 Young Women in Public Affairs Award are now available from the Zonta Club of Berkshire County.

The goal of the Young Women in Public Affairs (YWPA) Program is to encourage more young women to participate in public affairs by recognizing a young woman’s commitment to the volunteer sector, evidence of volunteer leadership achievements, and a dedication to the advancement of the status of women.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — B. John and Rosaleen Miller lost their son to a drug overdose.   Their response 20 year ago is helping prevent that tragedy occurring to other families. Jim Mucia of the Brien Center says, "if we can get one kid off of heroin it is worth it."   Mucia heads the Patrick Miller Youth Substance Abuse Program at the Brien Center.
