Mary M. Roy, 88

LENOX, Mass. — Mary M. Roy, 88, of Lenox died Wednesday morning, Aug. 15, 2018, at Springside of Pittsfield.



Born in Pittsfield July 2, 1930, the daughter of Ambrose and Ida Montour Jerome, she attended Lenox schools and was a 1947 graduate of Lenox High School. Prior to her marriage she worked at General Electric in Pittsfield in their Ordnance Department. After her children were school age she was employed for 23 years at the former Cameron Elementary School in Lenox as a teachers’ aid.



Mary had been a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. She especially enjoyed cooking, tag sales, shopping, and of course, the casinos with Gus.



She and her husband, Augustus A. Roy, were married in St. Ann’s September 8, 1956.  Mr. Roy died March 9, 2016.



Mary is survived by three sons, Scott G. Roy of Stockton, Calif., Keith E. Roy (Bridgette) and their children Jade and Brooke, and Gary A. Roy (Paula King) of Lenox; four sisters, Dorothy Leibenger of Pittsfield, Ida Mae Scaramuzzi of Lee, Joan Reidy of Lenox, and Barbara Thompson of Florida; one brother, William J. Jerome (Kay) of Pittsfield; and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nieces and nephews.



Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her son, Kevin J. Roy, on June 24, 2007; sisters Eleanor Hamberg and Vivian Hopper; and brothers Edward, Robert and Richard Jerome.



The family would like to thank the staff at Springside Rehabilitation for their care, the family for visiting so much, and a special thanks to her sister, Dorothy who was there every day.



Funeral notice: A funeral service will be Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Roche Funeral Home in Lenox celebrated by the Rev. Monsignor John J. Bonzagni, Pastor of St. Ann’s. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lee.



There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Berkshire Humane Society, both in care of the funeral home, 120 Main Street, Lenox, MA  01240.
