September 27, 2018

PITTSFIELD — Mary M. Tosetti, 97, a longtime Pittsfield resident, died Thursday, September 27, 2018, in Dalton, where she had lived since May.

Born in Pittsfield on July 11, 1921, she was the daughter of Albino and Nora Tosetti. She attended Pittsfield schools, graduating from Pittsfield High School in 1939 and later from the former Berkshire Business College. She worked as a secretary at the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for more than 25 years, in the Ordinance and Power Transformer divisions.

She lived in her house in Pittsfield’s Lakewood section for 86 years, moving in 2007 to Providence Court in Pittsfield, where she had lived until earlier this year.

A woman of great faith, she was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and All Souls Church in Pittsfield, and she was a member of the Mount Carmel choir and the All Souls Rosary Sodality.

She was a member of the Pittsfield GE Pensioners and Quarter Century Club, and had been a member of the former Pittsfield Women’s Club. She was an avid gardener, and kept busy with knitting and crocheting projects until the end of her life. She was extremely generous with family, friends and neighbors, and visitors always left her home with garden vegetables or handcrafts she had made.

Survivors include her sister, Anne M. DiPalazzo of Pittsfield; two nephews, James A. DiPalazzo of Pittsfield and John G. DiPalazzo of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; and a great-niece, Rebecca J. DiPalazzo of Charlotte, N.C.
