Annmarie Burke, 74

September 25, 2022

PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  Annmarie (O’Brien) Burke, age 74, passed away at Berkshire Medical Center on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

Born in Pittsfield, Annmarie was the daughter of the late James O’Brien and Anne L. Boyd Duclos. She was educated in the local schools and spent much of her life as a caregiver.

She worked for many years as a CNA in the local nursing homes and then went on to care for her brother, sister and mother.

Mrs. Burke will be remembered as a great story teller, as being chatty and for her incredible strength. She loved playing cards, doing crossword puzzles and she was a talented drawer. She enjoyed shopping and was an avid NY Yankees fan, but most of all, she loved her family and helping to raise her grandchildren.

Annmarie married Almon “Dave” Burke on March 23, 1968. They spent 50 wonderful years together before his passing on May 17, 2018.

Mrs. Burke is survived by her children, Dawn Spagnuolo and her husband Justin, David Burke and his wife Katie, and Dale Burke, her niece whom she and Dave raised like their own daughter, Heather Chojnowski, and many other nieces and nephews. She also leaves her grandsons, Justin Spagnuolo (Dana), Austin Phillips (Payden), Tyler Abriel, Dale Burke Jr., Logan Spagnuolo (Natalia), Dylan Burke (Jocelyn), and Landen Foster, her great granddaughter Myla Spagnuolo, and her cousin Nancy Slick. She was an animal lover and will be missed by her four furry friends, Lily, Benson, Bentley and Oliver.

Annmarie was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Fred Fassell and her sister Linda Chojnowski.

Mrs. Burke’s family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Hillcrest Infusion Center, especially Billie Jo and Shannon.

SERVICES: Burial was private for the family. Friends are invited to join with the family for a Celebration of Annmarie’s life on Saturday, October 22nd at Zucchini’s Restaurant beginning at 1pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made payable to the BMC Cancer & Infusion Center and mailed to the Devanny-Condron Funeral Home, 40 Maplewood Ave. Pittsfield, MA 01201.
