Jeffrey E. Meczywor, 61

October 26, 2022

LENOX, Mass. —

Mr. Jeffrey E. Meczywor, 61, of Lenox, died Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at his home after a long illness.

He was born in North Adams on January 14, 1961, the son of Edward Meczywor and Louise (Wilusz) Meczywor Duda. He attended Adams schools, graduating from Hoosac Valley High School as the valedictorian of the Class of 1979. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the former North Adams State College in 1983, and then received his master’s degree in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He had lived in Lenox for the past 27 years.

Jeff worked as a senior program manager at Lockheed-Martin in Pittsfield for 15 years, until retiring in 2020. Jeff received several awards and recognitions for outstanding work, always giving credit to his teams for a job well done. He mentored many. While in college, he interned for Sprague Electric, who hired him immediately upon graduation. He spent his entire career working for General Electric Aerospace and Ordnance divisions, General Dynamics, Martin Marietta, and Lockheed Martin in Pittsfield, joking that he was in the same chair, but the name over the door kept changing.

In his younger years, he played hockey and soccer, and hiked and cross-country skied throughout the Berkshire Hills. He loved reading (especially John Grisham) and was a Civil War history buff. Jeff coached boy’s and girl’s youth soccer in Lenox. He was an avid golfer who throughly enjoyed his yearly trips to Myrtle Beach with friends William Craig, Robert Bresnahan, and the late Steve Wiater.

He is survived by his wife, the former Anne B. Jzyk, whom he married on June 18, 1983; his daughter, Ashley R. Meczywor and her fiancé, Jonathan Gonzalez, of Chicago, IL; his sons, Ryan S. Meczywor and his fiancée, Alexandra Musgrove, of Chicago, IL and C.J. Meczywor and his wife, Rachel (Cogswell), of Lee, MA; his sister, Eileen Rockefeller of Lee, MA; a close family friend, Sheri Alderton; as well as several cousins, his adored nieces and nephews, and close friends. Jeff was predeceased by his parents and his brother-in-law Scott R. Rockefeller.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, November 3rd at 1:00 PM in the PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St. Adams. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams. Friends may visit on Thursday from 11:30 AM until the service, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lenox Scholarship Fund, c/o Town Hall, 6 Walker St. Lenox, MA 01240; or to the Town of Adams Scholarship Fund, c/o Town Hall, 8 Park St. Adams, MA 01220.
