LENOX, Mass. — Marlene Olive Graney, 70, died peacefully Friday March 24, 2023 at her Lenox home. Marlene enjoyed the simple things in life, sitting in the sun, sipping tea with a sweet treat, listening to music, the sounds of a babbling brook and birds. She liked the quiet company of her close staff, friends and family.
Marlene grew up in North Adams, her family belonged to the Methodist Church. Marlene and her sister, Irene, were very close. Family stories suggest that she was an outgoing and engaging young woman who at times was very mischievous. Her favorite candy was a Three Musketeers Bar.
Marlene is survived by her loving sister, Irene B. Polchlopek, her son Albert Graney, and Katie Polchlopek, her niece. She is predeceased by her parents, Theodore and Katherine Graney, and her brother-in-law, Stanley W. Polchlopek.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care Marlene received from Berkshire County Arc throughout the years.
At a later date, a private graveside service will be held at Southview Cemetery in North Adams.
