BOSTON -- Three members of the Berkshire Wrestling Club earned bronze medals over the weekend at the Bay State Games.   Isiaha Hartman-Caesar, Zabion Powell and Michael LaFreniere each finished his competition with a win in the third-place match at the tournament.   A fourth competitor from the club, Deven Pekosz, also competed, wrestling in the 113-pound weight class.   At 120, LaFreniere went 4-0 in the wrestlebacks after losing his initial match in the main draw. He pinnned Samuel Wagner of the New Hampshire Lightning Wrestling Club at 1 minute, 43 seconds of their third-place bout.   At 145, Powell won twice in the main draw before dropping a decision in the

WOBURN, Mass. -- Jacob Stokes and Kate-Lynn Johnson of the American Legion Post 152 shooting team took home gold medals from the pistol competition at the Bay State Games over the weekend.   The team sent several competitors to the event.   Stokes won the in the basic supported position competition, where Lyla Kocsis took home a silver medal.   Johnson won gold in the standing supported position division.

LEE, Mass. -- The Lee Community Tennis Association is offering an extended sign-up period for its team tennis programs for children ages 5 to 18.   All programs run through mid-August. Enrollments are open to all children in Berkshire County, and scholarships are available.   The USTA Junior Team Tennis camp runs for four more weeks. Players aged 18 and under practice Monday nights from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lee High School. ROXBURY CROSSING, Mass. -- The West girls basketball team split its games Saturday to go to 3-1 at the Bay State Games.   In the morning, the squad held off Coastal to earn a 71-66 win behind 17 points from Greenfield's Katie Haselton and 15 from Wilbraham and Monson's A.J. Washington.   Drury's Brook DiGennaro scored 11 in the win.   DiGennaro again put up double figures in an 83-72 loss to Central on Saturday afternoon.   Haselton and Chicopee Comp's Arianna Hasiuk led the way with 15 points apiece.   The West finsihes pool play on Sunday at noon against Metro before heading to the medal round.

WALTHAM, Mass. -- Wahconah's Dart Jaggi scored a goal in the West team's 11-10, double-overtime win over Metro/Southeast in the Bay State Games boys lacrosse gold medal game.   The West went trough pool play with a 4-0 record before beating Metro/Southeast a second time in the tournament final.   The first time around, the West earned a 10-8 win.   Jaggi finished the tournament with eight goals. Hoosac Valley's Casey Meczywor scored six goals and added two assists.   The team also included Wahconah's Dayton Kozlowski and Monument Mountain's Walter Boyko.

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Bike and Board is finding a burgeoning market in e-bikes.   Electronic bicycles have been in existence for more than a decade but only recently has the technology begun to take hold in the Berkshires.   The bicycles are just like traditional bikes and made by traditional bike manufacturers. FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Lenox Memorial student Brock Baumann scored six goals and compiled nine assists in five games to lead the West team to a gold medal in the Bay State Games hockey tournament.   The West went 4-0 in pool play to earn the top seed in the medal round.   In the gold medal game, it beat Coastal, 14-3, to win the title.   McCann Tech's Caleb Rondeau finished the tournament with a goal and an assist for the West.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Brock Baumann scored four goals Thursday to help the West team earn a split in a pair of games to open the Bay State Games hockey tournament at the Foxboro Sports Center.   The West team lost to Coastal, 7-4, in its opener but bounced back with an 8-4 win over Metro/Northwest.   Caleb Rondeau scored a goal and assisted on another on Thursday.   The West team Friday morning is set to play the Coastal team again.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. -- The Berkshire Force and Greylock Thunder will take the field on Thursday for the start of the four-day Babe Ruth New England Regional Softball Championships in the under-14 and under-16 divisions.   Up to 34 games will be played between Thursday and Sunday at the Doyle Complex on Benedict Road with two teams advancing from the regional to earn the right to play in the 2018 Babe Ruth World Series in Jensen Beach, Fla.   There are seven teams from five New England states competing in the U14 division.   The Greylock Thunder, representing Western Massachusetts, will meet the host Berkshire Force at 6 p.m. on Thursday to open the tournament.   Each team

The Berkshire Hills United 14-and-under boys soccer team won two games at the Division I level at the recent Massachusetts Tournament of Champions.   Eight teams from the county qualified for the event, and the Berkshire Hills United boys had the best results, going 2-1 with wins over Mashpee and Oakmont.   The Williamstown Lions U12 boys and Dalton U14 boys each received sportsmanship awards at the event.   Other teams qualifying included the Pittsfield Soccer Club Foxes U12 girls, Lenox Youth Football Club Gold U12 girls, Pittsfield Soccer Club Gunners U12 boys, Pittsfield Soccer Club Hammers U14 girls and Dalton U14 boys.
