PITTSFIELD, Mass. —  Franklyn D. Reynolds has been named to lead Berkshire Gas as its 11th president since the company's founding in 1853.

In this role, Reynolds will have overall responsibility for operations and management of the company and its 124-member workforce. Berkshire Gas provides natural gas service to 40,000 customers in 20 communities in the three westernmost counties of Massachusetts.

A 25-year veteran of the utility industry, Reynolds also serves as vice president of gas integration for Avangrid Networks, where he leads the restructuring of the gas operations and gas engineering lines of business.

"Frank is a proven leader with broad experience in the utility industry," said Anthony Marone, president & CEO of Avangrid Networks' companies in Connecticut and Massachusetts. "He brings a strong track record in operations and management, with a customer focus, to Berkshire Gas and the communities that we serve, as we continue to provide critical energy services in the western Massachusetts market."

"Berkshire Gas is a small company with a big track record of success, which I hope to build upon," Reynolds said. "I also look forward to getting involved with the communities that we serve and meeting the challenges ahead in a positive and proactive way."

Reynolds began his utility career in operations and administration at Connecticut Natural Gas and Southern Connecticut Gas, where he served as the assistant to the CEO during the merger of those companies with Energy East. His subsequent assignments included serving as vice president of asset management and planning for Avangrid Networks, and previously as vice president of general services for Iberdrola USA.

A Connecticut native, Reynolds holds a master's in business administration from the University of New Haven and a bachelor's degree in industrial technology from Central Connecticut State University. He has completed executive course work at Iberdrola's School of Management, the Ross School of Business and at Wharton.

In addition to his service with the Army National Guard, from which he retired as a major after 20 years, Reynolds previously served in both board and advisory capacities with the Urban League of Rochester, N.Y., Consumer Credit Counseling Services of Rochester and on the Advisory Board of Roberts Wesleyan College, also in Rochester.

Reynolds succeeds former Berkshire Gas President Karen Zink, who retired in December after 37 years of service with the company.
