Berkshire Museum Offers Virtual After School Program

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Enrollment for the Berkshire Museum After School program After-School@Home is now open.
 
The Berkshire Museum will host After-School@Home through the fall and bring lessons on science, history, art, and culture directly to students' homes. 
 
"We realize that remote schooling has changed the way everyone is learning this year, so supporting educators and students is one of our top priorities," Jeff Rodgers, the Berkshire Museum's Executive Director said. "Our after-school programs complement classroom learning, encourage curious kids to explore new ideas, and they also happen to be great fun.”
 
The first session of After-School@Home will include the following 5-week programs:
 
Kitchen Ka-Boom! for Grades 1 and 2
Tuesdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 3, 3:30 pm
 
Students will moonlight as kitchen scientists and discover the twisted chemistry behind common ingredients through a series of kid-safe, easy-cleanup experiments.
 
Engineering for Grades 3 to 6
Tuesdays, Oct. 6 through Nov. 3, 4:30 pm
 
Coding and robotics collide in this hands-on, tech-centric program. No prior experience necessary.
 
Globe Trotters for Grades 1 and 2
Wednesdays, Oct. 7 through Nov.4, 3:30 pm
 
This after-school adventure is filled with stories, art, and games from cultures around the world, past and present.
 
Adventures in Animation for Grades 3 to 6
Wednesdays, Oct. 7 through Nov. 4, 4:30 pm
 
Students will learn how to create their own animated short films including creating narratives, storyboarding, scenery and character design, and post-production.
 
Archaeologists' Club for Grades 1 and 2
Thursdays, October 8 through November 5, 3:30 pm
A series of archaeological activities takes students on a journey through history that reveals stories from ancient civilizations around the world.
 
Museums & Mummies for Grades 3 to 6
Thursdays, Oct. 8 through Nov. 5, 4:30 pm
 
This guided, kid-friendly Dungeons & Dragons campaign set in the Berkshire Museum is filled with mystery, history, diplomacy, and adventure.
 
Enrollment is now open for the first session of After-School@Home. Registration is $90 per child or $75 for Berkshire Museum members and includes five weekly live sessions led by museum educators and an After-School@Home Kit that contains all the materials students need to complete hands-on activities and experiments.
