Lasell University in Newton.
Elizabeth Bona, a Lasell University student from North Adams, presented at the Newton university's Fall Career Readiness Symposium in December.
 
Bona shared a presentation on an original concept developed for a course on food and beverage management in hospitality called "Tipsy Traveler."
 
The December 2020 event showcased the work of Bona and more than 150 other students in a digital format. The annual event was reimagined to celebrate and showcase the ties between career preparedness and Connected Learning, thanks to a three-year grant from the Davis Educational Foundation.
 
All symposium presentations focused on four of the National Association of Colleges and Employers' career-readiness competencies: Global and Intercultural Fluency, Professional and Work Ethic, Leadership, and Career Management.
 
Bona also recently earned a Problem-Solving Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification.
 
"Six Sigma certifications elevate a student's professional marketability and exemplifies additional knowledge of being a problem solver," said assistant professor Siddharth Mobar, a hospitality and event management expert.
 
The certifying agency, GoLeanSixSigma.com, uses immersive virtual training experiences to improve problem-solving skills. Forbes, Amazon, Tesla, and Disney are among the many companies who utilize the agency.
 
 
Connor Bryant of Pittsfield and Daniel Buell of Hancock were among more than 100 students from Western New England University in Springfield who were inducted into Alpha Lambda Delta in a virtual ceremony held on March 5. 
 
Bryant attends the College of Arts & Sciences is working toward a bachelor of science in computer science. Buell attends the College of Engineering is working toward a bachelor of science engineering in mechanical engineering.
 
Alpha Lambda Delta is a first-year honor society founded in 1924 at the University of Illinois that has more than 280 chapters in the United States.
 

Graduations

Alissa Rosier of Pittsfield earned a master of education degree from Concordia University in Seward, Neb., in the fall 2020.
 
Lindsey Hubbard of Adams received an associate in applied science from the veterinary technology program at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center. She was among the 56 students who graduated in the fall of 2020. 
 
Veronica Bisson of Pownal, Vt., graduated cum laude with a bachelor of science in biology of Castleton (Vt.) University following the successful completion of the fall semester in December 2020. Graduates will be recognized during the university's 234th commencement.
 
Kristen Borelli of Pittsfield graduated Dec. 11, 2020, from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, S.C. Borelli was presented a degree in interdisciplinary studies during commencement exercises held at the school's Brooks Stadium.

Senior Amaya Smith of Williamstown was named to the fall 2020 head of school scholar honors list at Pomfret (Conn.) School.
 
Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester congratulates the following students on being named to the fall 2020 president's list: Grace Van Buren of Becket and Rebecca Drager of Dalton.
 
 
Connor Blodgett of Great Barrington, studying computer engineering technology, and Brendan Blevins of Readsboro, studying software engineering technology, were named to the dean's list for the fall 2020 semester at Vermont Technical College in Randolph Center. Maria Potvin of Stamford was named to the president's list; she is pursuing an associate of applied of science degree in landscape contracting.
